In recent years,a large number of B&Bs and hotels have emerged in China, attracting a large number of tourists due to their unique design styles. If the B&B industry wants to become a lasting and stable development industry,it must be branded and culturally effective with the help of reasonable planning and design.Pack Kiln Village is located at the foot of the Shi Zu Mountain in Xinzheng City,Henan Province, and has unique conditions for developing tourism due to its location. The purpose of this paper is to create a cultural and tourism community space that combines its unique historical and cultural characteristics to help the local tourism industry. The development of colored pottery,an important part of the history and culture of Henan Province, has a strong regional color, and the decorative patterns of colored pottery have a very large developable space, which also receives the attention of many contemporary designers. In addition, the study of painted pottery patterns based on semiotic theory can not only help to sort out the patterns of painted pottery, but also provide new ideas for the design application of painted pottery patterns.Henan is the birthplace of Yangshao culture, which has typical significance for representing Henan culture. The integration of Chinese painted pottery culture art into the design of rural cultural and tourism communities has a strong significance for creating a cultural and tourism community space with local characteristics.Based on the above, this paper organizes and classifies the colorful pottery pattern symbols from the perspective of semiotics, and explores their cultural connotation and pattern characteristics. In addition, this paper combines the rural cultural tourism community space to find the design method of applying the painted pottery pattern symbols to the rural tourism community space. In the study of semiotic theory,Peirce proposed a trichotomous linguistic construction, which divides symbols into three categories: image symbols, symbolic symbols, and denotative symbols. Therefore, this paper studies the relationship between the shape of symbols and objects according to the three constitutive elements, divides graphic images with the help of Peirce’s semiotic theory, and applies them to interior spaces by using different design techniques and constitutive methods. This innovative approach is important for the revitalization and inherited development of traditional culture. The design of public space of rural cultural tourism community includes public space such as visitor service center,multi-functional gym, study room and square leisure space. At the same time, this paper considers the living, production and play needs of villagers and tourists, and on this basis, the spatial layout of the building is reasonably designed and planned. While undertaking functions such as cultural exchange and leisure consumption, this paper also takes into full consideration the originality that needs to be maintained by the design intervention in the traditional village, showing a modern space that integrates with traditional culture.
