Marx’s Philosophy Of Urban Space And Its Contemporary Value

Since the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy was first proposed at the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the relationship between urban and rural areas in China has been continuously improved in the process of adjustment.Marx summed up the changes of urban-rural relations into three stages: urban-rural separation--industrialization and urbanization--urban-rural integration.Chinese urban-rural dual structure determines that urban space and rural space exist together.Whether it is to further promote the urbanization process of urban space or to realize the revitalization of rural space,the ultimate goal of development lies in how to realize the simultaneous development of urban and rural areas and the integrated development of urban and rural space.As development strategy for agriculture,rural areas and farmers with Chinese characteristics,the rural revitalization strategy has changed the agricultural development model advocated by traditional economics,which is "driven by cities and nurtured by industry",to explore a new model of integrated development between cities and rural areas.As the form of physical movement,space provides a place for the survival and development of human beings.From the perspective of practice,Marx’s philosophy of urban space puts urban space in the research field of historical materialism,in order to analyze the history of urban development from the perspective of space,reveal the dual functions of capital and division of labor for urban development,and explain the social production and social relations of people in the space.Although Marx’s thoughts which can only been referred to the work city,did not form a systematic theory,but for the developing countries like China,urbanization and rural revitalization are two paths to further promote China’s economic and social development.Using Marx’s urban space philosophy to examine contemporary urban and rural development in China,is not only the need of space theoretical innovation of our country,but also the reality of the construction of Chinese characteristic socialism urban-rural space needs.This paper applies Marx’s classical writings about Philosophy of urban space,and domestic and foreign research of scholars which related to Marx’s urban space philosophy.First of all,the paper sorts out the basic concepts of Marx’s urban space thought,including the essence of space,the connotation of urban space and the production of space on the basis of synthetically sorting out the domestic and foreign research results.Secondly,it summarizes the basic contents of Marx’s urban space philosophy from the two aspects of the nature of urban historical development and the duality of its historical functions.After explaining and summarizing the basic contents of Marx’s urban space philosophy,this paper analyzes the spatial problems existing in the current urban and rural development in China from the perspectives of urban space production,rural space production and urban-rural integrated development.Finally,in allusion to the existing problems in the development of urban and rural space in China,this paper analyzes the contemporary value of Marx’s urban space philosophy,which as the ideological weapon,for the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.On a theoretical level,Marx’s thought of urban space philosophy has re-interpreted the misunderstanding of western Marxist space philosophy and laid the foundation for the emergence of Chinese space theory.On a practical level,Marx’s urban space philosophy provides guidance for the construction of urban and rural space of socialism with Chinese characteristics,which is helpful to realize the integration of urban and rural development in China.
