Transportation infrastructure plays an important role in economic growth.Various modes of transportation,such as aviation,water transportation,railway and highway passenger transportation,exist as transportation means,which can greatly promote the development of economic activities and affect the migration and agglomeration of industries.In recent years,high speed railway(referred to as high speed railway),which is characterized by safety,comfort and efficiency,is focusing on the development of "eight vertical and eight horizontal" trunk network.It’s construction and operation create conditions for the flow of capital,labor force,technology and other production factors in the region along the line,and promote the development of social economy.Tourism is a part of the economic activity,is also one of the focus on the development of high value-added industries,developed traffic can bring more passengers flow directly for the tourism industry,tourism and other industries,compared to it’s more directly affected by the traffic infrastructure and significantly,especially rapid development and the opening of the high-speed rail,for tourism economic growth to bring more likely.Many scholars have launched for high-speed economic effect brought by the study,to study the effect of the tourism industry including based on geography perspective of tourism spatial structure evolution,the change of city accessibility,are based on the double difference model,this paper analyzes the impact of high-speed rail on tourism traffic effect.Existing literature on the impact of high-speed rail on tourism shows that high-speed rail improves the accessibility of cities along the line,and the resulting agglomeration effect,superposition effect and intercity effect have promoted the development of tourism in some cities.Then how much does the opening of high-speed railway drive the urban tourism economy;Can it effectively improve the tourism economy or inhibit the increase of tourism income instead;Whether the developed degree of existing transportation will affect the effect of high-speed rail opening on tourism economy;What are the differences between different geographical regions in the impact of high-speed railway opening on tourism economy;It is still necessary to conduct in-depth research on whether the impact of high-speed rail operation on the provincial capital cities directly under the central government is significantly different from that of ordinary cities.Based on the 2005-2018 panel data from 288 local and cities in China as the sample space,by using the model of a multi-phase DID create a natural experiment scene,this high-speed rail as a "policy",to estimate the treatment effect,to explore the city after the intake of iron for tourism income and the number of change,the influence of heterogeneity analysis was carried on.The research main body is divided into three parts: the first part is about the current research of the related literature to comb,for high speed railway,the tourism economy,the urban tourism economy the key concept to define,and combining with the official data to analyze high-speed rail industry and tourism development present situation,for the subsequent empirical research support;In the second part,the multi period did model is used to test the impact of high-speed rail on urban tourism economy(including the number of tourists and tourism income),and the mechanism is briefly analyzed.In addition,a random sampling placebo test is conducted to ensure the robustness of the results by eliminating some samples.The third part is the heterogeneity analysis,to explore the impact of high-speed rail on tourism economy when considering the highway development degree,and to divide the city samples into different groups,which are divided into seven regions,provincial capitals directly under the central government and ordinary cities for heterogeneity analysis.Based on the analysis of the impact of high-speed opening on urban tourism economy,it is proved that the opening of high-speed railway will promote tourism economy in a certain period of time,but a period of time after opening of tourism economic forces are no longer significant,so to continue to promote the development of tourism economy,also need help from the high-speed railway opening,find factors to promote the tourism development of endogenous power,such as tourism services,improve the tourist resources.In order to ensure the robustness of the results,this paper conducted a placebo test and proposed sample regression.After excluding some cities with extreme population size and excluding the top 30 cities in the tourism composite index,the estimated results were still robust.The conclusions of this paper are as follows: The opening of high-speed railway has a significant role in promoting tourism economy,which can increase the total tourism income by 20.44% and the total number of tourists by 17.77%;The higher the degree of urban highway development,the weaker the promoting effect of high-speed railway on tourism economy,it means the increasing proportion of highway passenger transport will inhibit the promoting effect of high-speed railway on tourism economy.The opening of high-speed railway has different impacts on the tourism economy in different regions,and it has the strongest promoting effect on the northwest region,while the promoting effect on the number of tourists in Northeast China is not obvious.The opening of high-speed railway has brought more obvious promotion to the tourism economy of ordinary cities(compared with provincial capitals and municipalities directly under the central government).Finally,the results show that some suggestions are put forward: focusing on ordinary cities,strengthening the construction of high-speed rail network,and giving full play to the advantages of the strong driving effect of ordinary cities’ high-speed rail on tourism economy;Seize the opportunity of high-speed railway construction,improve tourism facilities,enhance the reception capacity of the city;Through the integration of various transportation modes in the city,improve the accessibility of tourist destinations and the accessibility of urban attractions;We will develop tourist routes for cities along high-speed railways in accordance with local conditions,and promote regional tourism development in combination with regional natural resources.
