A Research To Regional Design Strategies Of South Fujian Resorts

In South Fujian(Quanzhou,Zhangzhou and Amoy),both traditional and modern architecture have distinct regional characteristics because of its unique regional culture.After China’s Reform and Opening Up,South Fujian has always been one of the major parts of the development of the construction of Resort areas in China.Since the 90 s,with the resort hotels being introducted from overseas,the region’s Resort constructions have grown rapidly,and the South Fujian is a key area of coastal tourism economic development.The growth of tourist and economy will exist for a long time in the future,and resorts,as a product of both roles,will continue being built for a long time.After the rise of real estate in recent ten years,the resorts in South Fujian have been evolving from following the trending "form" to exploring local regional culture.At this time,the importance of regional design of resorts is highlighted.Based on the natural conditions,social conditions,architectural features,etc.,South Fujian was analyzed with the regional characteristics,and cases were studied.This paper summarizes the regional design experiences of resorts in South Fujian,and then comprehensively analyzes and sorts out the regional design strategies.These strategies will help to improve the existing resort plannings and resort hotel designs so as to guide the practice.A case of the master planning and architectural design of Zhangzhou Xiaogang resort where the author participated in the design was studied as an example.At the same time,as a famous tourism area,the regional study of South Fujian(especially Amoy)plays a significant role as the reference for architectural practices of other cities in China.First of all,under the guidance of the Regionalism theory,this paper clarifies the coverage of regionalism and analyzes the regional characteristics that influence the architectural design in South Fujian.Regional characteristics of architecture and the development of South Fujian’s resort hotels are summarized.Secondly,South Fujian’s local characteristics,which consists of four aspects(natural environment,local culture,historical context,architectural characteristics from)are analyzed,and cases are studied to conclude the possible methods of designing South Fujian resorts.Finally,taking the planning and architectural design of Zhangzhou Xiaogang resort as an example,this paper illustrates the specific implementation method of regional design strategies.
