Abstract/Summary:
In recent years,Africa’s economy has developed vigorously, but the problem of its energy supply shortage has gradually begun to emerge. With the deepening of China-Africa energy cooperation, especially the exchange and cooperation of hydropower projects,Africa has become one of China’s largest overseas markets for energy and construction projects.China and Africa have rich experience in cooperation, but the complexity of African countries in terms of politics, economy, social culture and other aspects has brought certain difficulties to Chinese companies’ investment decisions. Therefore, this article evaluates and researches the investment environment of hydropower projects in African countries in order to find the most suitable African countries for investment and provide effective references for Chinese enterprises.First,by analyzing the characteristics of the investment environment of hydropower projects in Africa, the influencing factors are divided into six major factors: hydropower resources, economic environment, political and legal environment, infrastructure, social culture and health. Then the preliminary construction of the evaluation index system for the investment environment of hydropower projects in African countries is composed of 6 second-level indicators and 28 third-level indicators. Finally, the factor analysis method is selected as the evaluation method.By constructing the evaluation model based on the factor analysis method and calculating the scores of each factor, the comprehensive score and ranking of the investment environment in African countries are obtained. This paper selects 14 key countries with investment potential from Ethiopia,Kenya,Tanzania,Uganda,Nigeria,Ghana,C(?)te d’ Ivoire,Guinea,Sierra Leone,The Democratic Republic of the Congo,Gabon,Cameroon,Angola and Madagascar for case analysis.Use factor analysis to evaluate and analyze the sub-environment(hydropower resources, economic environment, political and legal environment, infrastructure, social culture, health and health)and comprehensive environment of the above countries in turn.According to the evaluation results, the 14 key African countries are divided into three categories through cluster analysis: Class I countries are Tanzania and Kenya, which are key investment countries;Class II countries are The Democratic Republic of the Congo,Ghana,Nigeria and Ethiopia, which are more suitable Investment countries;Class III countries are Gabon,Madagascar,Uganda,Cameroon,Angola,Guinea,C(?)te d’ Ivoire and Sierra Leone, which are general investment countries. Finally, according to the research results, corresponding investment suggestions are given to provide investment reference for Chinese enterprises.
