In order to cope with smog pollution and improve the atmospheric environment, the country began to implement a coal-free heating program. At present, the rural areas of Tianjin and Hebei are in a state of coexistence of three main heating modes: coal heating, electric heating and natural gas heating. In this paper,a combination of questionnaire survey and on-site test was used to study and analyze the rural heating mode in Tianjin and Hebei under the background of " coal-free" reform. We understand the subject information, heating methods, and subjective evaluation of indoor air quality and heat and humidity environment in some rural areas of Tianjin and Hebei through questionnaire survey.Combined with the results of the questionnaire survey, several typical farmhouses using coal, electricity and natural gas for heating were selected for on-site testing of their indoor heat and humidity environment and air quality, test and analyze the pollutants discharged in the heating process. The comprehensive index method is used to comprehensively evaluate the indoor air quality of rural houses with different heating methods.Meanwhile, the energy consumption loss of rural houses is analyzed, the economy and safety of heating are compared and analyzed, and suggestions for the development of non-coal heating roads in rural areas are provided. The research results show that the insulation performance of the residential building envelopes in rural areas in Tianjin and Hebei is generally poor.Farmers have relatively low requirements for indoor environmental thermal comfort and air quality. The farmers’ enthusiasm for using electricity and natural gas is not high.Compared with traditional heating households, households that use electricity and natural gas as the main energy source for heating have higher indoor average temperatures, lower relative humidity, and better indoor air quality. For the traditional heating households, using clean coal can effectively reduce indoor pollutant levels. The pollutants in the flue gas discharged from the rural coal-fired heating process seriously exceed the standard, the concentration of pollutants discharged from coal-free heating is significantly lower than that of coal-fired heating. From the aspects of environmental protection, investment cost, safety, energy reserves and environmental adaptability of heating equipment, comprehensively compare the advantages and disadvantages of two coal-free heating schemes:“coal to gas” and “coal to electricity”,we concluded that for the region where the average temperature of the coldest month is higher and the relative humidity of the air is lower, the“coal to electricity” heating scheme is more suitable, for the region with the coldest month average temperature lower, the “coal to gas” heating scheme is more suitable.Coal-free heating has made some contribution to improving indoor and outdoor environment, but there are also some drawbacks. At present, there are some problems in rural heating, such as poor indoor environment, large loss of heating energy consumption, and high cost of coal-free.In view of these problems, this paper puts forward the corresponding solutions.
