The locomotive traction converter,as the core component to pull the transmission system for power transmission and conversion,always has a high failure rate because of electric heating stress in the process of operation,and mostly in electric,magnetic,thermal,mechanical and other multi-field coupling.In this study,locomotive traction converter in HXD1 is as the subject.By analyzing the possible electrical failure of the traction converter,and timely disposal,we expect to achieve a closed-loop management by establishing a FRACAS System(Failure Report Analysis and Corrective Action System)during dealing with the traction inverter fault information,and improve the traction drive System reliability and maintenance efficiency,to reduce the fault effect.Firstly,we explored the design structure and technical parameters of TGA6 C traction converter for HXD1 ac drive locomotive.In order to understand the working principle of traction converter systematically,we analyzed the electrical principle of input circuit,four quadrant variable flow module,intermediate DC circuit,PWM inverter circuit,respectively.Secondly,we simulate the work process of traction converter by using PRJ7200 software and analyze the main electrical component faults,especially in the causes of IGBT malfunction,main circuit grounding and other key sub-components to propose efficient solutions.After test,the feasibility and reliability of the solutions were verified.Finally,combined with electrical fault handling of traction converters,the author puts forward two development to establish a FRACAS System that was mainly used to analyze the failure information of the traction converter and caculate the reliability and failure rate and to realize the rapid feedback of running fault information,analysis and processing scheme of closed-loop,and the accuracy of the validation process technology improvement.The system has a high practical and economic value to prevent the recurrence of failures,and summarize the ideas and practices of the FRACAS system in closed-loop management of traction converter fault information,and provide technical reference for fault management of other key and large components.
