In this thesis,a techno-economic and environmental study has been conducted on an existing 330 MW coal fired power plant when it is integrated with parabolic trough collectors.The study is based on real time data of power plant and the solar potential available in the Tharparkar region of Pakistan.The methodology and calculations are based on the previous studies and few assumptions,when solar heat around 300℃ is taken from PTC and replaced the steam from HPT,to preheat the feed water before the economizer of the boiler.The actual aim of study of 330 MW SAPG system on design conditions is to look for possibility and potential to install PTC in future to gain the benefits of reduced LCOE(levelized cost of electricity),improved solar to electricity efficiency and other economic factors.According to calculation done the results came out to be very promising and reduction in specific steam consumption,fuel consumption,CO2emission are reduced significantly.
