| As one of the core forces to promote China’s economic development, the construction industry occupies an important position, whether in the gross domestic product or the number of employees. However, the shortage of labor force, the aging of the construction industry and the serious imbalance of the employment structure between men and women need to be properly solved. The best way to solve this problem is to introduce more moderate-age,healthy and active female construction workers. But the data show that the number of female construction workers is still less than 10%of the total number of workers, one of the reasons why they do not want to enter the industry is the excessive work stress. At present, there are more researches on work stress in academic circles.Although the research on work pressure in construction industry is increasing,it is mostly focused on managers and highly educated practitioners rather than construction workers, there is even less research on job stress among female construction workers. Therefore,in order to introduce more labor force,it is urgent to study and solve the problem of working stress of female construction workers.Combined the existing literature research and industry research result and based on Robbins’s work stress model, this paper constructs a theoretical model of women’s work stress based on three core factors:potential stressors, stress outcomes and stress regulation factors.Work stressors mainly include Work Characteristics, organization factors and personal factors. The results of work stress are mainly reflected in three aspects:physical change, psychological feeling and behavior change.Work organization factors mainly include personal characteristics and job support. After that,a questionnaire containing 5 parts,14 dimensions and 69 measurement questions was formed.Through the analysis of the questionnaire data of 258 female construction workers, the structural equation model(SEM)was used to construct the initial relationship model about female construction workers’ stress, and the model data were analyzed and corrected to derive path coefficients for the antecedents, consequences, and moderators of construction women workers’ work stress. Finally, the results of the study were explained, and policies and suggestions for reducing work stress among female construction workers were proposed. The results show that:(1)Stress factors such as job characteristics, organizational factors and personal factors have a significant positive impact on the work stress of female construction workers, and the work characteristics have the greatest influence.(2)The generation of work stress has a significant positive effect on the malignant changes of female construction workers’ physical, psychological and behavior, and has the greatest influence on the psychological feelings of female construction workers.(3)Personality traits and job support have a significant regulatory effects effect on the work stress of female construction workers.Personality traits have significant positive regulatory effects, while job support has significant negative regulatory effects. This study systematically and comprehensively analyzes the causes and effects of female construction workers’ work stress, helps the construction industry to attract, train and retain more female labor force, and makes up for the shortage and aging of labor force in the industry, which is conducive to the rapid and stable development of the construction industry. |
