In the 21 st century, the influence of culture has become more and more prominent, and urban concerns have shifted from simply pursuing rapid economic growth to the driving force of cultural resources on urban construction. The Grand Canal,as an important economic and military way for communication between the North and the South in Chinese history, has brought cultural exchanges and integration between different regions, and also led to the development and prosperity of cities along the route.Luoyang,as the center of the Grand Canal in Sui and Tang Dynasties, has left valuable historical and cultural relics on both sides of the river after thousands of years of historical changes. But now,the abolishment of canal transportation function has separated cities from canal development. As a linear landscape with special cultural resources, heritage corridor provides a way to connect the canal and the city again. From the perspective of cultural resources to promote urban revitalization, this paper constructs Luoyang Canal Heritage Corridor by using rich historical and cultural resources on both sides of the Luo River, and studies the core impact of the construction of the Canal Heritage Corridor on the development of villages along the line.Firstly, this paper sorts out the basic theory of heritage corridor.Through the study of the excellent cases of urban renaissance in canal areas at home and abroad,it is concluded that heritage corridor,as a relatively mature linear cultural heritage protection method, has the dual role of canal heritage protection and economic drive. It is concluded that the construction of canal heritage corridor promotes villages along the canal from four perspectives of heritage protection, economy, culture and society at the macro level.Secondly,it sorts out the historical changes and protection status of the Grand Canal in Luoyang. This paper analyzes the gradual decline process of Luoyang section of the Grand Canal from the excavation of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the opening of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal in the Yuan Dynasty.Through field research on the canal and villages along the canal, this paper discusses the current situation and existing problems of the two,and puts forward new opportunities for Luoyang to develop its cultural resources through the canal in the current environment. Finally, based on the above theoretical research and field research results,a canal heritage corridor in Luoyang section of the Grand Canal is constructed. The contents include : green corridor, interpretation system and display line, and the construction principles and management strategies are given.According to the reality of Luoyang section,it is concluded that the construction of heritage corridor in Luoyang section of the Grand Canal promotes the development of villages along the canal.Taking Erlitou Village, the most representative village along the research section of the canal,as an example, the influence of the canal heritage corridor on the protection of historical resources, the construction of human settlement environment, economic development and cultural construction is demonstrated through its village planning and construction. In order to more clearly and intuitively show the development of villages along the canal in Luoyang Canal Heritage Corridor.
