The information-based warfare,which swept the whole world after the mechanized war,is the latest scene of the transformation of war form.With the arrival of the military revolution,the complexity of military communication network system is increasing day by day.The military communication business is developing rapidly.More challenging problems arise from the top-level design of military communication network characterized by complexity.A possible solution to these problems comes from the high availability network.Moreover,the study of network availability is essential to support the evaluation of network performance in case of tactical communication network.First of all,we explore the fault mechanism and the running state of military communication network.Then,we intend to define a formal methematics model based on the simplified behavior and state of the tactical communication network.This model allows us to evaluate the availability of the multi-state network.By using the method of finite-state Markov chain,we can clearly present the running state of the complex network system comprised by multi-subnet.Thus,we construct a mathematical model of network availability,to get steady-state availability and transient availability of military communication network respectively.Secondly,the business availability of military network is studied and analyzed from the application level.In the military services,the main consideration is the effectiveness and availability of service transmission.High transmission quality,low transmission efficiency or low transmission quality,high transmission efficiency cannot meet the military needs.Previous research on network availability is generally from the perspective of network layer,link layer,physical layer and network equipment.However,these researches do not take into account the application level and service transmission.In some special task scenarios with high availability requirements,such as military field,it can’t evaluate system availability effectively.In this paper,we not only consider the steady-state availability and transient availability of the network system,but also discuss the capacity of communication network to fulfill the needs of complex military services.According to the real-time,reliability and other requirements of military services as well as their own characteristics,we classify the service of the current land warfare military network in different categories.Then,we select the major performance indicators to build an index system,and improve the business availability model.Based on the principle of statistics,we proposed a quantitative evaluation model of business availability based on TDMA protocol transmission mechanism.Finally,based on OPNET simulation platform,we simulate the steady-state availability and operational availability of military communication network from the perspective of military communication network availability.The errors between the theoretical results and simulation results are within the allowable error range of the project requirements.Furthermore,the experimental results indicate that our model is some effective and correct.
