Multiwall Carbon Nanotubes(MWCNTs)are high strength,high toughness,high modulus fiber and high temperature resistant.Length-diameter ratio of it is large.MWCNTs can enhance the mechanical properties,thermal stability and reduce the flammability of composites.These excellent characteristics are also needed for non-asbestos gasket.The application of new nano material MWCNTs in the non-asbestos gasket is studied in this paper.Firstly,on the basis of previous research and the characteristics of traditional non-asbestos gasket,the composition materials of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket are selected.Secondly,the formulations of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is studied.The study on the ratio of formulations of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is divided into two parts in order to improve the experimental efficiency and avoid mutual interference between the tested components.Mixed uniform experiment is designed to study the influence of MWCNTs,QY cotton fiber,mineral cotton fiber,paper fiber,kaolin,mica and talcum powder on the performance of non-asbestos gasket.The optimal ratio of fiber and filler in MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is obtained in this step.L9(34)orthogonal experiment is designed to further study the influence of the ratio of elastic binder and aluminum sulfate on the performance of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket.The basic formula of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is obtained in this step.Finally,according to the MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket formula obtained from previous experiments,different kinds of MWCNTs are used to replace ordinary MWCNTs to study the influence of different MWCNTs on the performance of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket.The cross-section of broken MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is observed through scanning electron microscope(SEM).Conclusions can be drawn from the above studies that:(1)Uniform experiment is designed to study the formula ratio of fiber and filler in MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket.Properties of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is tested.Related regression equations are obtained by SPSS.The relatively optimal ratio of fiber and filler in MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket is obtained through optimization analysis of regression equations.(2)Orthogonal experiment is designed to study the optimum ratio of aluminum sulfate and latex of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket,which also the great influence on the performance of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket.The optimal ratio of aluminum sulfate and elastic binder of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket are obtained:aluminum sulfate 26.47%,acrylonitrile-butadiene latex 29.41%,styrene-butadiene latex 44.12%.(3)The influence of different MWCNTs on the performance of non-asbestos gasket is analyzed by experiment of single factor.Under the relatively optimize formula ratio obtained before,whether these MWCNTs have a significant effect on the performance of the non-asbestos gasket compared with ordinary MWCNTs is studied.The experimental results show that the aging characteristics of MWCNTs non-asbestos gasket are significantly affected by the selected modified MWCNTs,while the physical properties of it,such as compressibility,resilience,tensile strength and density,are not significantly affected.
