| Since 2008 the Beijing-Tianjin intercity railway has been in operation,China has been advancing the construction of transportation infrastructure at high speeds and achieved world-renowned results.Excellent results have been achieved especially in the construction of high-speed railways. As of the end of 2018,the total mileage of China’s high-speed railways has ranked first in the world, with more than 25,000 kilometers, which has brought China into the "high-speed rail era".The high-speed rail is already a bright business card for Chinese equipment manufacturing. The construction and operation of the high-speed railway system network has not only changed people’s travel modes, but also changed the regional economic structure and urban spatial form. Therefore, under the background of the rapid development of China’s high-speed railway, the industrial layout and spatial form of the areas and cities along the high-speed railway will also be greatly affected.Especially nowadays, when the positive interactive development of productive service industry and manufacturing industry is promoted, whether high-speed railway construction can promote the positive interactive development of productive service industry and manufacturing industry has great significance. This article attempts to explore the impact of the high-speed rail opening on industrial collaborative agglomeration and its internal logic from the perspective of industrial collaborative agglomeration. This article takes the high-speed railway construction officially started in 2008 as a quasi-natural experiment, uses the double-difference method to overcome endogenous problems, and studies the impact of high-quality transportation infrastructure construction on industrial synergy.Based on existing research and theoretical analysis,as a high-quality infrastructure,high-speed railways can increase the abundance of labor and capital factors, promote innovation and innovation spillovers, expand market demand and Improve the availability of intermediate inputs and the level of regional industrial synergy. In the empirical test section, considering the existing literature comprehensively, this paper uses DID,PSM-DID,and instrumental variable regression three methods and mediation effect models to test whether the opening of high-speed railway is affected by the level of industrial agglomeration in the region affected by the theoretical analysis mechanism. The conclusions are as follows:(1)From the data research at the city level,it is found that compared with cities that have not opened high-speed rail, cities have increased the level of urban industrial synergy after opening high-speed rail. This is consistent with the conclusions reached using PSM-DID and instrumental variables. And this conclusion has been established in a series of robustness tests;(2)The high-speed rail opening has obvious regional heterogeneity in the policy effect of industrial synergy: the level of industrial synergy is increased in the eastern region, while it is reduced in the central region. The level of industrial agglomeration;(3)The study of distinguishing between central and non-central cities found that the opening of high-speed rail significantly increased the level of industrial synergies in non-central cities, while the policy effect on central cities was not significant;(4)the use of intermediary effects This paper finds that high-speed railways have improved the level of regional industrial agglomeration by increasing the abundance of regional capital and labor factors, technological innovation levels, increasing market potential, and increasing the use of intermediate inputs. Therefore, specific policy suggestions were made to advance and improve the construction of the high-speed rail network, release the economic dividend of high-speed rail, and promote coordinated regional development. |
