The intersection is a bottleneck of the road network,and its running state directly affects the traffic condition of the road network.In order to solve the problem of left-turning vehicles at intersections,the use of left-turning waiting areas has become the main measure for solving traffic congestion in major cities.Compared with conventional intersections,the left-turn waiting area improves road capacity,reduces vehicle delays and queue lengths,but at the same time causes secondary parking problems.It is the study of this paper to explore the principles and vehicle operating status of left-turn waiting area settings,analyze the change characteristics of vehicle parking rate after setting left-turn waiting area at intersections,comprehensively consider the average vehicle delay and average parking rate,and optimize signal timing.Important content.First,the paper summarizes the research status of domestic and foreign scholars on the setting conditions and signal timing of the left-turn area,and expounds the main contents of the research.Secondly,based on the traffic wave theory,starting from the operating characteristics of the left-turn vehicle in the left-turn area,the starting wave model of the left-turn vehicle entering the left-turn area is deduced,and the rationality of the model is verified with examples.Then,by analyzing the change characteristics of the left-turn vehicle traffic wave at the intersection of the waiting area,a revised model of the left-turn vehicle parking rate is established,and the signal timing optimization model for the intersection is further derived.Finally,using MATLAB as the calculation tool and based on the example traffic data,the NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm is used to solve the timing scheme.The research results show that the starting wave model deduced in this paper fits well with the actual data and can be used as a theoretical basis for the parking rate model;based on the traffic wave theory and combined with examples,it can be deduced to establish a parking rate calculation model for vehicles with left-turn areas;Using the delay and parking rate of the intersection as evaluation indicators,a dual-target signal timing optimization model was established,and the NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm was used to solve the timing scheme.After the example optimization,the signal timing parameters were better than the current status.Finally,the rationality of the model and algorithm is verified.
