Nowadays,with the increasing of traffic flow in our country,the disorder of motor vehicles and non-motor vehicles at the intersection of roads is not uncommon,and has not been effectively managed for a long time.For example,traffic congestion,increased energy consumption,increased vehicle emissions of pollutants and so on.Road intersections are the key to solve urban traffic problems,where all kinds of traffic flows from different directions will converge.Of left turn traffic junction is the key problem,most of the traffic conflict and turn left at the traffic flow,if on the left road intersection traffic channelized properly,the road traffic capacity will be largely improved,otherwise the human in the motorised traffic flow increase traffic safety hidden trouble at the same time,will threaten the entire city traffic.In this paper,we first study the setting conditions of the left turn waiting zone,including geometric traffic channelization conditions,road traffic conditions and safety distance conditions.In this paper,the requirements of spatial dimensions of intersections are given,and the threshold conditions of traffic flow in left-turn waiting zone can be set for different types of left-turn lanes.Secondly,this paper continues to study the operation characteristics of left-turn non-motor vehicle flow,establishes a generalized regression model to study the expansion characteristics of left-turn non-motor vehicle,and concludes that the maximum expansion width is affected by the number of non-motor vehicles arriving during the red light,the direction non-uniformity coefficient and the proportion of electric vehicles.By analyzing the influence of expansion and diffusion of non-motor vehicles,the influence of left-turning non-motor vehicles on left-turning motor vehicles traveling in the same direction is obtained,which provides guidance for the channelization and design of non-motor vehicles at road intersections.Finally,in the above research on left turn motor vehicles,non-motor vehicles,on the basis of selection in Changsha city People's middle road and Caier south Road intersection is analyzed.Instance road intersection is studied and discussed existing problems in the present situation,proposes thecorresponding improvement scheme,and using the Vissim traffic simulation software for the improved scheme for traffic simulation,the simulation data and actual traffic data comparison,to verify the rationality of the improved scheme,in order to improve road traffic capacity of intersection have practical engineering meaning.
