As China further accelerate the process of urbanization, urban road construction has been rapidly developed, and which followed by a more serious traffic hazard, and especially at the intersection. In the organization and management of traffic flow at the intersection, the most important part is the left-turn traffic.Because the left-turn traffic flow generates the most conflicts of traffic. Thus, the appropriate organization of the left-turn traffic plays the important role to improve traffic order of the intersection,which is also hard to deal with.With the application of probability theory, traffic engineering, mathematics and other disciplines of knowledge, this paper analyzes the situation of the current organization and management of left-turn traffic flow in the intersection, and explains the characteristics of the left-turn traffic, through the method of combining of theoretical summary and practical analysis, proposes various ideas and method of dealing with the left-turn traffic flow.In this paper the complexity theory of the intersection is used to explain the prohibition of left-turn traffic.And by the way of diverting traffic volune to deal with the intersection conflicts,some means are used, which are distracting crossing to further point, to achieve the nead of turning left by the way of turning ringht through the streets,using overpass,using circular traffic island.Obviously, it is not properly to prohibite left-turn in each intersection in our country.The precautions of seting the left-turn lane in the intersection is put,and some notes are commented also,including the number,setting manner,length and width of the left-turn lanes,thus the entire intersection is optimized by the road space resources. Later the basis of protected left-turn phasing is discussed and some phase types are explained.And then the concept of waiting area for left-turning is mentioned.Some consraints are discussed including geometry and signal timing constraints. Finally, after using the method put in this article,Xi'an Gao-xin cross intersection is carried out to prove the method of organization and management of left-turn traffic is reasonable and feasible.This research is referenced to the organization and management of the left-turn traffic in the urban road signalized intersections. |
