Application Of Baroque Style In Cheongsam Design

Baroque style is an artistic style that was once popular in continental Europe from the 17 th to the first half of the 18 th century.After nearly three centuries of evolution,it has unprecedented diversity and still active in the modern fashion stage.Cheongsam is one of the representatives of traditional Chinese women’s clothing,after various periods of improvement and inheritance,it stands on the stage of the contemporary world and has become a hot representative of Chinese style elements.The integration of Baroque style and cheongsam elements is a form of innovative design of modern improved cheongsam.At the same time,the application of Baroque style in cheongsam is an important embodiment of the combination of western traditional aesthetics and Chinese aesthetics.In the early stage of this paper,we fully understand the characteristics of Baroque style and extract design elements by exploring the origin of Baroque style and its respective embodiment in clothing and architecture,then it deeply studies the characteristics and development trend of cheongsam,and summarizes the improvement methods of cheongsam from three aspects: shape and structure,fabric color and decorative pattern.Finally,three design methods are innovated:the linear flow of Baroque style and the repeated rules method of cheongsam modeling,the grafting method of Baroque style decorative patterns and fabric reconstruction texture,and the mysterious and gorgeous Baroque and the emotional support method of cheongsam color,so that the design not only retains the characteristics of flag robe in profile,collar,skirt,piping and buckle decoration,but also integrates the three-dimensional modeling of Baroque style,Complex,elegant and unrestrained in pattern color and decorative elements.A series of Baroque style improved cheongsam were designed through practical creation,focusing on the improved design of modern cheongsam,this series extracts and transforms Baroque design elements,and strives to better combine with the improved design of Cheongsam in terms of style modeling,color pattern and fabric decoration.It makes the design streamline of inheriting tradition,combining Chinese and Western and contemporary application more clear,in order to provide a reference for the design and application of Baroque style in modern cheongsam.At the same time,it explores the production technology of traditional cheongsam and the innovative application of modern design.The design is close to the unrestrained publicity of the West and the implicit tenderness of the East in terms of beauty.
