Inventory management has always been a hot research topic in manufacturing industry.The improvement of inventory management level can effectively solve the problem of working capital occupation and greatly improve the operation and management efficiency of the company.With the market competition becoming more and more fierce,enterprises only focus on internal inventory management can not bring economic benefits,but more from the whole supply chain to strengthen the level of enterprise inventory management.From inventory purchase to manufacturing,and then to sales to the final customers,the upstream and downstream of the enterprise are regarded as a whole.Integrated and systematic inventory management can effectively allocate resources and reduce the waste of resources.Refractory company is an important upstream enterprise of iron and steel industry,which provides basic materials for production and manufacturing of iron and steel industry.With the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative,the increasing demand of infrastructure construction for steel also drives the development of refractory industry.However,many refractories companies still have backward production capacity and are facing enormous pressure on environmental protection.On the other hand,in the early stage of reform and opening up,China’s refractory companies experienced rapid development,and there were many enterprises in the industry,but the scale was relatively scattered,which led to the low industrial concentration in the industry.W refractory company,as a wholly-owned subsidiary of BG group,has entered a critical period of strategic transformation after the reorganization and merger of BW two major iron and steel groups.In the process of strategic transformation,the marketing mode of the company has gradually changed from the original simple product sales to the whole process of refractory general contracting technical services.The main business direction of the company and the management subject brought about by the reorganization and merger of two major iron and steel enterprises have changed which have made the company’s inventory management incompatible with the current business development.This paper analyzes the current situation of inventory management from four aspects of inventory procurement,production,warehousing and sales.Combined with the characteristics of the company’s strategic transformation,this paper puts forward the optimization scheme and safeguard measures for the inventory management of W refractory company based on the perspective of supply chain,so as to improve the company’s inventory management level.
