The Zanthoxylum is the most genus in the family Rutaceae with about 250species,which is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia,Africa,Oceania,and North America.There are 39 species and 14 varieties in China,which are grown in most parts of the country.The dried and ripe peel of Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim is a traditional Chinese medicine in the 2015 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia,which have the effect of"warming the middle and relieving pain,killing insects and relieving itching".The fruit of Z.bungeanum,called the big red robe in folk,is mainly distributed in Gansu,Sichuan,Shanxi and other provinces in China.The chemical constituents of Z.bungeanum include volatile oil,flavonoids,alkaloids,lignans,amides,coumarins,fatty acids,phenylpropanoids,glycosides,etc.Its pharmacological activities have been studied to include hypolipidemic,antioxidant,anti-tumour,vomiting and diarrhea,worm accumulation and abdominal pain,eczema,pubic itching,analgesia,antibacterial and anti-inflammatory,inhibition of platelet agglutination and anthelmintic effects.Based on the chemical components and pharmacological activities of Z.bungeanum,studing the constituents of n-butanol portion of Z.bungeanum pericarps and their anti-oxidative effects is very important.A variety of column chromatography and HPLC were used for separation and purification,and the structure of the compounds was identified by NMR and other spectroscopy techniques.One new compound and thirteen known compounds were isolated,which were identified as bungphenol A(1),orcinol(2),1-methoxy-7R,8S-dihydroxyl-Phen-ylpro-Panol(3),methylcaffeate(4),methylgallate(5),3-methyl-but-2-en-1-ylβ-D-glucopy-ranoside(6),adenosine(7),marmesinin(8),blumenol C glucoside(9),(6R,9S)-3-oxo-α-ionol-β-D-glucopyranoside(10),roseoside(11),syringaresinol-4’-β-O-D-glucoside(12),(+)-lyoniresinol(13),isolariciresinol(14).ABTS+and DPPH radical scavenging experiments showed that2、4、5 and 12-14 have strongly antioxidant activity.Among them,the IC50of ABTS+radical scavenging activities of 13 and 14 are respectively 5.7 and 11.0μM,which are equivalent to the IC50of positive control Vc.And the IC50of DPPH radical scavenging activities of 4、5 and 13 are respectively 61.2,19.8 and 101.0μM,which are equivalent to the IC50of Vc.
