An Empirical Analysis On The Environmental Kuznets Curve Of Four Industrial Areas In China

Since the reform and opening up,along with the continuous economic development,the environmental quality has declined.Over the years,many scholars at home and abroad have made various studies based on this problem,and the Hypothesis of Environmental Kuznets Curve is the most representative.Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to use the theory of Environmental Kuznets Curve to deeply study the relationship between economic growth and environmental conditions in my country’s four major industrial areas.This research takes Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Industrial Zone,the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Zone,the Pearl River Delta Industrial Zone,and Central South Liaoning Industrial Zone as the research objects,selects GDP per capita as the economic index,and selects industrial wastewater emissions,domestic sewage emissions,industrial waste gas emissions,industrial SO₂emissions,industrial smoke（dust）emissions,and industrial solid waste generation are used as environmental pollution indicators for fitting analysis.The results show that:（1）In the empirical research of the Environmental Kuznets Curve of the four major industrial areas,it is found that the relationship between economic growth and environmental quality does not all present the inverted"U"curve relationship of the theory of Environmental Kuznets Curve.（2）The domestic sewage emissions,industrial waste gas emissions,industrial soot（dust）emissions and industrial solid waste generation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Industrial Zone are on the rise,while industrial wastewater emissions and industrial SO₂emissions are on the decline.On the whole,the environmental conditions in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Industrial Zone still need to be further improved.（3）The industrial wastewater emissions,industrial SO₂emissions,industrial soot（dust）emissions and industrial solid waste generation in the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Zone showed a downward trend,while the domestic sewage emissions and industrial waste gas emissions showed an upward trend.On the whole,the environmental conditions in the industrial zone of the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Zone are improving,but the treatment of domestic sewage and industrial waste gas still needs to be strengthened.（4）The industrial wastewater emissions,industrial SO₂emissions,industrial soot（dust）emissions and industrial solid waste generation in the Pearl River Delta Industrial Zone all showed a downward trend,while the domestic sewage emissions and industrial waste gas emissions showed an upward trend.On the whole,the environmental conditions in the Pearl River Delta Industrial Zone have a clear upward trend.The discharge of industrial wastewater,industrial SO₂,industrial smoke（dust）and industrial solid waste has been effectively controlled,while for domestic sewage and industrial waste gas needs further treatment.（5）Compared with the other three industrial areas,the Environmental Kuznets Curve of Central South Liaoning Industrial Zone is not ideal.Among them,the industrial wastewater emissions shows a downward trend,while the domestic sewage emissions and industrial solid waste generation show an increase trend.
