The Investigation And Experimental Analysis On Traditional Handmade Paper Of Tujia Nationality In Tongren Region,Guizhou

Handmade paper in minority areas has always been an important part of the history of handmade paper in China.Many ethnic minorities in southwest China,such as Tujia nationality in Tongren region,Guizhou province,retain their traditional paper-making skills because of the mountains and rivers and the inconvenience of transportation.In2009 and 2019 respectively,the traditional handmade papermaking skills in the Yinjiang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County and Jiangkou County of Tongren region were included in the third and fifth tranches of the provincial intangible cultural heritage.Handmade paper from two different raw materials,production process has its own characteristics,Tongren Tujia traditional handmade paper representatives.Taking Xingwang and Yunshe village as examples,this thesis makes a systematic and comprehensive study on the traditional paper-making of Tujia nationality in Tongren region,Guizhou province.The research content of this thesis mainly includes the following aspects.1.Summarize the traditional papermaking history of Tujia nationality in Tongren region.Taking Xingwang Village and Yunshe Village as examples,through the sorting out of geographical environment and historical origin,it is concluded that the policy of reforming the land and returning to the current state implemented in the Tujia nationality area during the Qing Dynasty played an important role in the introduction of papermaking into the Tujia nationality in Tongren region.The local Tujia nationality took advantage of the abundant natural resources near the Mt.Fanjing,sourced local materials,and gradually developed paper-making techniques with local characteristics.Paper production in the Tujia nationality in Tongren region reached its peak during the war of Resistance against Japan and after the economic reform and open up in the1980 s.2.Investigate the traditional papermaking craft of Tujia nationality in Tongren region.With the field investigation,interviews and dictation,and literature review,the paper-making raw materials,tools used,and paper-making techniques of the Tujia nationality traditional handmade paper in Xingwang Village and Yunshe Village were organized,recorded,analyzed and researched.It is compared with the handmade papermaking techniques of other ethnic minorities’ areas,and the characteristics of the handmade papermaking techniques of the Tujia nationality in Tongren region are summarized.While retaining the local traditional papermaking characteristics,it has also improved some of the tools and materials used to conform to the development of the times.3.Carry out the paper experiment research on the traditional handmade paper of the Tujia nationality in Tongren region.Experiments were carried out on the handmade paper of the Tujia nationality in Xingwang Village and Yunshe Village and the comparison experiment with the handmade paper in other ethnic minorities’ areas was conducted,and the materials and performance characteristics of the traditional handmade paper of the Tujia nationality in Tongren region were summarized.The whiteness of the traditional handmade paper of the Tujia nationality in the two places is slightly lower,and the ink moistening properties are different,but the mechanical properties are excellent,and it has good tensile properties and folding resistance.4.Discuss the inheritance and protection of the traditional papermaking of the Tujia nationality in Tongren region.Through on-the-spot investigation,the present situation and obstacles encountered in the development of the Tujia nationality traditional handmade paper in Xingwang Village and Yunshe Village were summarized.In view of this issue,practical improvement suggestions are put forward for the protection,inheritance and development of local papermaking technology in combination with specific conditions and paper performance.This thesis selects the traditional handmade paper of the Tujia nationality in Tongren region for research,and makes a comprehensive analysis and record of it from the perspective of the history of science and technology.And by means of experiments,the paper samples were quantified,analyzed and sorted out,and the experimental data combined with the local conditions provided reasonable suggestions for the follow-up development of handmade papermaking of the Tujia nationality in Tongren region.At the same time,it also provides more perspectives for the protection of traditional crafts in minority areas.
