Abstract/Summary:
The selection of suppliers is one of the main and complex issues faced by decision makers.Evaluating suppliers based on different criteria is a major stage in the supplier selection process, involving strategic approaches to ensure the success of any company.Nowadays to keep pace with the global competition, organizations tend to build a long-term relationship with the vendors[1].The issue is that it is still traditionally conducted in some companies from developing countries,This research proposed an integration of analytical hierarchical process model and linear programming to analyze quantitative and qualitative factors in order to help decision makers choose the best suppliers from the list of candidates based on their criteria and the company characteristics or preferences. In this research,Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to measure the standards and obtain a total score for each supplier.Linear programming model supported this research with the purpose of allocating orders to suppliers by considering the existence of constrains such as supplier’s capacity, quality and demand. An empirical study from a mining trading company registered as Gisande trading ltd is considered in this study. The researcher designed the questionnaire with the purpose of selecting the criteria of interest to the company and its supplier’s related quantitated information,The result shows the rank of each supplier and the corresponding order allocation for each. Therefore This research concluded by confirming the robustness of the combined AHP-LP methodology where both qualitative and quantitative factors were measured to accurately select best suppliers with the consideration of their order allocations and maximize the total value of purchasing(TVP).The company managers found the result to be feasible and the method is expected to improve the status of their supply chain management.
