Deconstructionism,a linguistic ideology put forward by Jacques Derrida, has been widely applied in philosophy, politics, literature, design and other fields. In recent years, the word “deconstruction” has become more and more popular.People pursue not only conventional visual forms but also different signs, which leads to the appearance of decomposition and reconstruction ways in our daily life.Jewelry,as an important part of people's life, occupies a nonnegligible role with its unique art forms. This paper systematically illustrates the influence of thinking modes of deconstructionism on contemporary jewelry. This paper can be divided into five parts.Part 1 describes the concept and current situation of deconstructionism and their significance in contemporary artistic expression.Part 2 is about changes of jewelry functions, materials, forms and concepts in the development history of design.Part 3talks about the significance of deconstructionism on the development of contemporary jewelry and explores the ambiguous boundary of contemporary jewelry design.Part 4studies the actual cases of painting, sculpture, clothing and architecture, compares the relationship between jewelry and other kinds of art,and discusses the integration and coexistence of various art forms.Part 5 combines theories with practice and elaborates the significance and values of deconstructionism in contemporary jewelry design from the perspective of personal creation practice.Superficially speaking, deconstruction is a way to disassemble matters and then to rebuild them so as to pursue individuality. However, deconstruction is a way to break inherent rules and an idea to disassemble and reconstruct the knowledge system. The appearance of deconstructionism, which endows artists very large creation space,is a challenge to traditional and solidified thoughts and brings infinite possibilities for jewelry designs.
