Research On The Application Of The X-silhouette In Modern Menswear Design

The X-silhouette,which originated in the Middle Ages in Europe,emphasises and reinforces the broadness and fullness of the chest and hips,as well as the slimness of the waist,presenting a beautiful and smooth external silhouette of the human body,which has not only had a significant and far-reaching impact on the styling of modern clothing,but has also established the X-silhouette as the mainstream in fashion.Against the backdrop of increasing gender fluidity,the concept of neutrality in modern menswear design has re-emerged and is rapidly spreading,becoming one of the key trends in the diversification of modern menswear.The X-silhouette,which has been feminine since its inception,is a perfect fit for the neutrality of modern menswear design.This article first briefly explains the concept and development of the X-silhouette,and then compares and analyses the design points of the parts based on the stylistic characteristics of the X-silhouette,and then uses the X-silhouette as a research clue to explore the menswear that showed the tendency of the X-silhouette in various historical periods in Europe,and to interpret the laws and motives of the development of the X-silhouette tendency in menswear from the cultural level.The X-silhouette is combined with male physical features and new masculinity to explore how the feminine X-silhouette can be used in modern menswear design,bringing new ideas and perspectives to modern menswear design so as to explore more plasticity and space.
