An Introduction To The Traditional Paper-cutting Symbolic Elements And Their Use In The Creation Of "Lost Love" By Gongbi

Paper-cutting is one of the more popular and widely circulated types of Chinese folk art.It uses paper as the material carrier,and with the help of simple and convenient tools such as scissors or carving knives,it cuts out simple and vivid visual images,expressing the secularized aesthetic interests of the general public.Due to the influence of different regional environment,history and culture,customs and habits,the style of traditional Chinese paper-cutting differs greatly from north to south,and there are significant differences in the modeling characteristics and expression methods.On the whole,the southern paper-cutting is beautiful and exquisite;the northern paper-cutting is rough and thick and bold.From the visual point of view,it is easy to see that there are many similarities between the decorative expressions of traditional paper-cutting such as planarization and symbolization and the expression language of Chinese brush painting,which has certain reference value for the creation of Chinese brush painting.Therefore,based on a deep understanding of the pictorial symbols and expressions of traditional paper-cutting,this project attempts to integrate many elements of traditional paper-cutting with the creation of Chinese brush painting and explore a new path for the creation of Chinese brush painting,as well as to expand the ideas for the creation of contemporary Chinese brush painting.This paper explores how to use the symbolic elements of traditional paper-cutting in the creation of brush painting,taking the creation of the brush painting "Lost Love" as the starting point in conjunction with his own creative feelings.Chapter one describes the domestic and international research on the subject of paper-cutting in Chinese painting and presents the innovation of the selected topic;chapter two briefly describes the concept of traditional paper cutting,and analyzes the modeling characteristics and expression methods of traditional paper cutting symbol elements;chapter three starts from the author's personal understanding of the definition of traditional paper-cut symbol elements,and analyzes its types and artistic value;Chapter four indicates the author's creative intention to apply the symbolic elements of traditional paper-cutting and integrate them into his personal creation.
