The L-camitine is an essential nutrient for metabolism and energy regeneration of human tissue with its function closely linked to human organs.Currently, the L-carnitine in China mainly needs to be imported from abroad with high cost. There are few reports on the method of the preparation of L-camitine by extracting from animal by-products,the most common method in the world is chemical synthesis. The resources of cattle and sheep are rich in Inner Mongolia with a large number of offals produced every year but the utilization rate of these offals is very low. This study is intended to explore the extraction technology of natural L-carnitine by Inner Mongolia resources to and fill the gap of natural L-camitine production in China. In this experiment, the Sunid sheep liver was selected as the raw material with optimum extraction solvent to prepare natural L-carnitine.The content of L-carnitine extracted with perchloric acid, ethanol, ethanol and n-butanol(2:3)and 95%ethanol were 10.82±0.021g/kg,1.84±0.024g/kg,1.19±0.012g/kg and 0.57±0.007g/kg respectively. The results showed that the highest content of L-carnitine was extracted by perchloric acid, which was used as optimum extraction solvent in this experiment. The optimum extraction conditions of L-carnitine were solid-liquid ratio of 1:4 g/mL,ultrasonic power 400 W,ultrasonic time for 60 min and extraction temperature of 50℃ and no perchloric acid residues in products by detection. The mass percentage of L-carnitine in solid powder prepared by vacuum freeze-drying of L-carnitine extract was 28.05%.There were a few other active ingredients in L-camitine samples, and no D-camitine existed. It was proved that high content of safe and non-toxic natural L-carnitine can be obtained from Sunid sheep liver by the above method and the extraction technology used in this experiment is feasible.
