This paper discusses the application of action-oriented instructional design in practical training of electrode arc welding course in secondary vocational school.The application has achieved the desired effect.First of all,the author makes statistics on the normal distribution which is about the average scores of the theoretical knowledge learned by the taught students,and thinks that the initial level of the students is low.Interview method was used to find that students with industry background are the minority,students are suitable for multi-organ participation in information processing,memory is dominated by pictures,students are tend to hands-on learning.Secondly,using the principle of transfer to choose teaching content and to extract the typical working process.In the four selected items,the difficulty of welding position and groove form is from easy to deep,which is to suit students' cognitive process.At the same time,on the basis of comprehensive consideration of the requirements of the teaching syllabus,national vocational skill standards and the analysis of learning situation,the teaching objectives are designed from the knowledge requirements,skills requirements and emotional attitude requirements respectively in each project.Then,using the four-step teaching method to carry out project one,teaching and demonstrating basic operations.Using the project teaching method to carry on the project two,three,four where the teacher judge the rationality of the plan maked and explored by students.Then guiding the student to complete the project operation independently.In all projects,the author makes breakthroughs in key and difficult points through the combination of theory and practice while students are operateing.In the formative evaluation after the completion of each project,organizing teacher,classmates and students themselves to evaluate and guide students' professional ability,method ability and social ability.Finally,using the national vocational qualification examination method to make a summative evaluation of students.The teaching practice shows that more than 95% of the students have obtained the national vocational qualification certificate,who reach the level of knowledge and skill required by the industry post.The teaching practice has achieved the expected effect.By comparing the employment of licensed graduates with that of unlicensed graduates,it is proved that action-oriented instructional design is an effective means and method of practical training of electrode arc welding course in Secondary Vocational School.
