Nowadays,more and more enterprises recognized the importance of performance management,thus put it into effect.While most of "performance management" mainly focused on the application of the performance results like rewards and punishments for personnel,post adjustment,etc.,and performance improvement was not paid attention to.The performance management of E group was set as the object of study in this paper,and HPT related theories were applied into analysis and research on the performance improvement situation of E group to find ways for optimizing performance improvement.In the beginning of this paper,HPT related theories were introduced,such as its definition,principles,models,and procedures.The performance management situation of E group was presented next.Then methods like historical data review,questionnaire survey and interview were adopted to analyze and study problems existed in the performance improvement of E group,namely whether a consensus about "performance improvement"was reached among the whole E group;the company personnel could not be qualified for the work of performance improvement;performance managers lacked competence;a set of feasible and instructive performance improvement procedures and tools were absent.Finally,HPT theories were applied to the investigation of those problems,thus reasons were found:less importance was attached to the performance improvement,a performance improving system had not been established,and a professional team had not been formed,etc.Additionally,solutions were provided in latter part,in other words,more attention should be paid to performance improvement,a performance improving system should be established and a form about operation of tools should be provided,a qualified performance improvement team should be created,thus to solve performance issues in a systematic manner,then to improve the performance of E group.HPT theories were applied to two points in this paper,for the first one,"performance analysis" and "cause analysis" of the ISPI's HPT model were applied to analyze the reasons for low efficiency of performance improvement work of E group;second,"factors causing performance gap" in HPT process model created by Stoker Lovetch and K Ips and the element of "intervention measures selection”in ASTD performance improvement model were also used in designing solutions.Main management enlightenment of this paper:in performance improvement,HPT related theories should be applied properly,and they could help to build a systematized thought for problem solving,to find the real causes,establish solutions,thus to improve the efficiency of performance management.
