A Method Of Obtaining And Analyzing The Spatio-temporal Information Of International Relations Based On News Texts

International relations refer to the relations between international actors,which are intricate and ever-changing.The study of international relations will help China to grasp its international status and take the initiative in international society.The study on international relations is generally constructed on structured or semi-structured data through manual methods or semi-manual methods.It consumes too much manpower and time,and also cannot ensure timeliness.With the rapid development of internet and information technology,the politics,economy,military affairs,scientific research and life of human beings have been intermingled with each other,giving birth to a huge amount of data,which is more direct and convenient for the study of international relations.Through surveying of current work,this paper intends to use the news texts on the internet as the data source and build information expression of international relations based on the perspective of manifestation,which can realize the qualitative classification and degree judgment of international relations from a multi-dimensional perspective.Based on the dual perspectives of geographical analysis and social analysis,the "time-space-theme" analysis model combining multiple methods is established,which strives to form an analysis method for international relations with the combination of information computing and geographical perspective,qualitative description and quantitative analysis,theoretical analysis and empirical study.The main contents and results of this paper include the following aspects:(1)Classification and information expression of international relationsFrom the perspective of the combination of international relations and geography,this paper describes the basic characteristics and analyzes three important dimensions of international relations: the types of relations,the intensity of relations and the status of both international actors.Referring to the classical emotion wheel model,this paper constructs a classification and information expression of international relations under the dimension of relation types,and determines the specific categories of relation types.Besides,this paper summarizes the composition and interaction of the content elements of international relations information,and proposes information expression of international relations that combines dimension information elements and related information elements,which realizing the "subdivision" and "comprehensive" description of international relations based on the perspective of manifestation and revealing the causal relationship with various related information elements in the process of the emergence,change and development of international relations.(2)Information extraction and computing of international relations based on news textsAccording to the characteristics of international relations information in news texts,this paper constructs a method of extracting related information elements(including time,place,people,things,events,etc.),which combines conditional random fields,feature dictionaries and rule models,and realizes the structured and standardized processing of international relations information in texts.Also,this paper uses the frequency of independent occurrence,co-occurrence,non-occurrence and total occurrence of international actors in news texts to realize the computation of the two dimensions of the intensity of relations and the status of both sides in the dimension information elements of international relations.Besides,this paper proposes a method to compute the dimension of relation types in the dimension information elements of international relations through the related information elements such as people,things and events,constructs the calculation model of international relation types,and finally realizes the quantitative calculation and intuitive expression of the dimension information of international relations based on the perspective of manifestation.(3)A "time-space-theme" analysis method for international relationsThis paper proposes three levels of analysis,which are spatio-temporal characteristic,association patterns and evolution trend.They are combined with each other,and gradually constructed the "time-space-theme" analysis method for international relations,which provides a new perspective for the study of international relations.Scale analysis and kernel density estimation are used to describe the "characteristic",showing the spatio-temporal distribution patterns of international relations on three different scales: global,continental and national.Use the association patterns among the types of international relations,themes,and the types of events under the themes to explore the "cause",showing the mutual influence and interaction between international relations and thematic elements.Use data analysis and network analysis to study "law",exploring the changing process and development trend of the international relations over time under the influence of thematic elements based on the perspective of manifestation.
