Giant panda(Ailuropoda melanoleuca)is a rare and endangered species endemic to China, and its captive breeding history are more than 80 years. In captivity, pandas are exposed to more human disturbance, and lactating pandas will become anxious after being stimulated, which may threaten the safety of their cubs.Therefore,from2019 to 2020,nine female giant pandas give birth in Chengdu Research Center of Giant Panda Breeding and research were studied on the thermal physiology and stress physiology of giant pandas during their lactation using infrared thermal imaging technology. The main findings are as follows:(1)Spearman correlation analysis was conducted for the eye temperature, room temperature and humidity of each female animal, and the results showed that there was no significant correlation between eye temperature and room temperature and humidity of each individual, excluding the influence of room temperature and humidity on eye temperature.(2)Under normal circumstances, the eye temperature of the mother begins to rise from their cubs born, their eye temperature rice from 34.87±0.78?(mean±standard deviation)within 0-7d to 35.33±0.92? within 8-14 d,and then drops to 34.72±0.75? after 15-30 d.The variation of the eye temperature of the natural rearing was consistent with this trend, while the individual temperature of the mothers in human-assisted showed a decreasing trend from birth to 8-14 days.(3)Under the human-assisted conditions, the eye temperature of "Cheng Gong" was 33.34±0.66? before rearing,34.03±0.56? during rearing, and 33.73±0.42?after rearing. The eye temperature of "Miao Miao" was 33.06±1.17? before rearing,33.53±0.77? during rearing, and 32.29±1.29? after rearing. The eye temperature of "Qing He" was 33.11±1.06? before rearing,33.44±0.74? during rearing,and32.11±1.30? after rearing. The eye temperature of each individual in the rearing period after rearing was higher than that before rearing, and the eye temperature after rearing was higher than that at rearing, and there were significant differences among the three stages, indicating that the eye temperature of the mother was increased by returning the cub,but decreased by removing the cub.(4)The main factors influencing the eye temperature of mother panda under the condition of human-assisted rearing are different keepers. The results indicate that changing different keepers is the main factor affecting the eye temperature of female giant pandas during the human-assisted rearing period.Based on the above research results,we propose the following management recommendations: under the human-assisted rearing, managers can take measures such as increasing the time for twins to get along with their mothers, reduce the turnover of the keepers of the enclosure to reduce the stress response of female giant pandas during the nursery period and ensure the safety of mother and baby.
