Cold regions are characterised by long winters, large temperature differences between day and night and low temperature extremes. The harsh climatic conditions limit outdoor winter activities for travellers.Urban nodes,as the main places for human activity in the city, are naturally constrained by the climate. The design of urban nodes in cold regions in China still suffers from a lack of coherent and comfortable spaces for walking activities in winter. The study of the climate-adapted design of urban node spaces in cold regions is a reflection and intervention into the morphology and organisation of urban space. The city is not only a container for human life, but also the sum of relationships in human society,.It requires the support of a rich temporal and spatial structure. This paper will focus on the spatial design of urban nodes in cold regions oriented towards climate adaptation, and is divided into six chapters to discuss. The first chapter is introductory which mainly explains the background, purpose and significance of the thesis research, the research object, the current status of domestic and international research,as well as the research methodology and framework, and introduces the topic and structure of the thesis from a macro perspective. The second chapter is an analysis of the climate adaptation of urban nodes in cold regions, and constructs an overall cognition of the research object and related theories. The third chapter summarises the problems of scale, sense of enclosure and relevance in the spatial design of urban nodes based on case studies of urban nodes in cold regions in China, and summarises the development of the degree of climate adaptability of urban nodes in cold regions in China. The fourth chapter summarises the design of urban nodes in cold regions through case studies, with a focus on specific climatic elements. The fifth chapter is based on Chapter 4 and combines the concept and principles of active integration to summarise the design strategies for climate adaptation of urban nodes in cold regions in a more macro and holistic perspective. The sixth chapter is a practical application of a design examples based on the previous methods and strategies. Finally, the spatial design strategies and approaches for climate adaptation-oriented urban nodes in cold regions are presented as a whole by integrating the results of the above research, and the future development trends are foreseen.
