The scale and method of vegetation classification in ecology has always been one of the fundamental problems.And it is also a very complicated problem in the study of vegetation ecology.Whittaker had listed twelve main classification methods and summarized six traditional methods in 1978.Besides this theory,the ecological researchers of our country are also influenced by the former Soviet school.Another key element of vegetation classification is the ecological scale,which includes scale effect analysis and multi-scale spatial pattern analysis.The classification of vegetation needs to be established under a certain climate zone,and accord with a certain ecological scale or spatial pattern.However,in the actual work of vegetation classification,we are often puzzled by the scale of vegetation classification system,which is particularly prominent in the classification of interlaced zones and transitional zones.To solve this problem,the vegetation system of this paper follows the traditional classification from high to low:zone of vegetation,vegetation type,vegetation subtypes,formation type and formation.We divided the various types from drought to wet areas.In this paper,a typical forest-grassland ecotone(41°N-46°N,1 16°E-126°E)in northern China was selected,covering an area of about 400000 square kilometers.We have collected vegetation distribution data,annual precipitation and annual temperature data for the last 30 years.Based on the organizational order of vegetation theory,the potential transpiration was calculated by Holdridge method,and the annual biological temperature was used as the main parameter to calculate the vegetation organization order of each group in the study area,so that all the formations were classified according to the formation,formation type,vegetation subtype,vegetation type and zone of vegetation in the spatial pattern.The core objective of this study is to spatially assign a definite value to each cluster based on ecological thermodynamics theory and organizational order of vegetation model.Its significance is to facilitate the classification of the different values of each vegetation,so as to avoid the difference in scale and spatial pattern,and thus have a great impact on vegetation classification.This paper will be helpful to the classification of complex vegetation ecotone and vegetation transition zone in practice,and it has more diversified reference to the actual afforestation and vegetation restoration.
