The calculation of earth pressure is an important issue in civil engineering.However,the existing research and theoretical methods are mainly used in the long straight retaining wall,and it is not suitable for the circular arc retaining wall.Thus,the following studies are made:Based on the Coulomb earth pressure theory,this work explored the earth pressure of the circular arc retaining wall and regarded it as a space problem.Considering the friction between the back of the wall and the fill behind the wall,we differential the sliding soil behind the wall,and by using the static equilibrium relationship of the soil and the vector relation of the force that obtained as well as mathematical and mechanical methods the functional expression of the angle between the sliding surface of the circular arc retaining wall was deduced.After optimizing the complex formula,a new earth pressure coefficient of circular arc retaining wall is introduced,and the earth pressure coefficient of circular arc retaining wall in various cases is calculated by VC++programming,and the table is drawn for a quick calculation.Finally,the case analysis and the current calculation method are compared to improve the applicability of this method.Through the calculation of the overall earth pressure of the circular-arc retaining wall,the conclusion is drawn:the sliding surface angle and the active earth pressure was negatively related to the friction angle of the wall soil;the passive earth pressure is positively related to the friction angle of the wall soil,and the overall earth pressure takes on a nonlinear distribution.The purpose of this paper is to supplement the traditional earth pressure theory,raise the plane problem to the space problem,put forward the calculation theory which can better reflect the actual situation of retaining wall engineering,and make the calculation factor of earth pressure in slope engineering more comprehensive.
