The carbon emission caused by fossil fuel combustion is the primary reason for the increase of carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere, and the global warming problem has become the focus of the world.China's total carbon emissions account for about 30%of the world's total(2017).The increase of carbon emissions comes from the accumulation of carbon under economic growth. The overall carbon emissions are also the sum of regional carbon emissions. The Yangtze River economic belt is the largest regional economy in China, with total carbon emissions accounting for about 40%of the national total(2017).The outline of the Yangtze River economic belt development plan proposes to build a new development pattern of "one axis, two wings, three poles and many points".The construction of Urban Agglomerations with Shanghai,Wuhan and Chongqing as the core will not only affect the regional industrial structure and economic growth mode, but also bring about the sustainable carbon emissions increased. Therefore, the analysis of the impact mechanism of urban cluster effect on carbon emissions is conducive to starting from the characteristics and influencing factors of carbon emissions, providing reference for the formulation and implementation of energy conservation and emission reduction policies and low-carbon development strategies in the Yangtze River economic belt, and realizing China's carbon emission reduction goals and commitments in the international arena as soon as possible.Based on combing and summarizing the current research results of carbon emissions, this paper comprehensively uses the theory and statistical analysis methods of urban cluster theory,low-carbon economic theory, environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis, etc.to analyze the regional carbon emissions of urban clusters. The mechanism of action believes that urban clusters mainly affect carbon emissions through population size, economic growth, energy consumption, and investment in fixed assets.Among them, the mechanism of energy consumption on carbon emissions is mainly achieved through rationalization and advanced industrial structure.Using the GDIM model to quantitatively decompose the carbon emission factors of the Yangtze River Economic Zone. The results show that:investment in fixed assets is the main factor contributing to carbon emissions in the Yangtze River Economic Zone, followed by economic development;investment carbon intensity and output carbon intensity are the main factors contributing to the decline, but from the perspective of development trends, future output carbon intensity The reduction effect will be higher than the carbon intensity of investment;economic efficiency has shown an accelerating effect on the carbon emissions of the Yangtze River Economic Zone, but its increasing effect has been weakening year by year. From a regional perspective, the economic efficiency of the Yangtze River Delta region has shown inhibition effect. In light of the regional differences in the economic development level, industrial structure, resource endowment and environmental carrying capacity of the Yangtze River Economic Zone, carbon emission reduction strategies and recommendations are proposed.
