Wound infection can worsen the wound and cause various complications,which is the main problem in clinical treatment.Although antibiotics are mainly used as a treatment method at present,they have side effects on the human body,and pathogens will also be resistant to the corresponding antibiotics.In recent years,owe to the high-density active particles and charged particles in atmospheric pressure plasma,it has made breakthroughs in a series of applications in wound treatment.However,there are still deficiencies that require the use of high-voltage power supplies,inert gas cylinders,and operation training,which limits its further application.Plasma activated oil(PAO)with high activity,long life and low cost can effectively solve the above problems.In this project,plasma jet treatment of sunflower oil is used to prepare plasma activated oil.Considering the difference in discharge characteristics and active particle density of plasmas with different working gas ratios,Ar+10%O2 and Ar+10%air are used respectively to produce PAO(O2)and PAO(air).A comparative study was carried out on the discharge characteristics during the preparation of the two activated oil,the physical and chemical properties of PAO,the bactericidal effect,and their application of infected wounds.The measurement of the plasma discharge characteristics indicates that at the same voltage,the Ar+O2 plasma discharge current is slightly weaker than the Ar+air,mainly because the strong adsorption of electrons by O2 reduces the free electron density.The plasma spectrum measurement results indicate that the former produces a large amount of reactive oxygen species,while the latter also produces a large amount of reactive nitrogen species and OH radicals.The measurement of the physical and chemical properties of PAO indicates that 14 hours of plasma discharge treatment can prominently reduce the oil saturation and increase the peroxide value and acid value.PAO(O2)and PAO(air)have similar changes in saturation and peroxide value,but there is a difference in acid value.This is mainly because PAO(air)will generate additional nitrite during the discharging,which reacts with oil,then produce fatty acid nitroolefins,resulting in an acid value of 1.4 to 1.5 times that of PAO(O2).Experiments on sterilization and promotion of wound healing indicate that both PAO can effectively kill four common wound infection pathogens:taphylococcus aureus,micrococcus luteus,escherichia coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa.PAO(O2)and PAO(air)can respectively accelerate the healing rate of infected wound by 33%and 31%.Although the formation of fatty acid nitroolefins leads to a higher acid value in PAO(air),the effect of killing bacterias and promoting the healing of infected wound indicates that PAO(air)and PAO(O2)have similar effects.Due to the lower manufacturing cost and higher safety factor,PAO(air)has greater application potential and value in medical treatment like diabetic chronic wound treatment.
