With the rapid development of science and technology,human beings have explored the blue ocean with science and technology and obtained a huge amount of ocean observation data.However,these ocean observation data are not only various in types and contents,but also in different periods and regions,which makes the data dynamic,multi-dimensional,time-varying and other characteristics,thus causing semantic ambiguity and sharing difficulties of ocean data.At present,the solution to the problem of semantic heterogeneity is to construct ontology and formally express it through ontology description language developed by W3C.Among the existing ontology description languages,OWL has stronger expression and reasoning ability than other languages,but there is still a lack of expression of spatio-temporal knowledge.For the issue that it was difficult to describe and express the dynamic,multi-dimensional and time-varying characteristics of ocean flow field by existing ontology language,by introducing spatio-temporal ontology,the paper constructed a three-tier architecture which was composed of ocean flow concept ontology,spatio-temporal object ontology and spatio-temporal process ontology.And based on this,the paper proposed a spatio-temporal ontology model for the dynamic variability characteristics of ocean flow field,and realized the semantic expression of ocean flow domain knowledge.Based on the semantic analysis of ocean flow spatial primitives and temporal primitives,the paper established the criteria for determining the topological relationship,the sequential relationship,the distance relationship and the temporal relationship between ocean flow objects.and the spatio-temporal relation between the objects in ocean flow field is put forward.In order to give the formal expression of the spatial-temporal ontology for ocean flow field,based on the description logic(DL)theory and adding the knowledge of the temporal and spatial of the ocean flow field,the Ocean flow field Spatial Temporal Description Logic(OST DL)based on the temporal and spatial of the ocean flow field is proposed,and on the basis of Description Logic and OWL,The Ocean flow field Spatial Temporal Web Ontology Language(OST OWL)was established,and then the formal expression of OST OWL was carried out from three aspects of class,property and individual,and the general term vocabulary in the spatio-temporal expression of ocean flow field were given,the expansion of OWL spatio-temporal modeling primitives was realized.Finally,we use OST OWL to express the ocean flow field formally,so as to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the expression of OST OWL.
