Abstract/Summary:
While organizations expand their supply chain into international locations to source or sell globally, management of Global Supply Chain (GSC) becomes unavoidable. As companies have to be aware of the cost and sustainable development requirement, transportation collaboration might play an important role in the management of GSC. In this study, we analyze the impact of transportation collaboration in shipment planning and lot sizing through a GSC. The network is composed of suppliers, customers and different transportation modes. A multi-product and a multi-period mixed integer linear programming optimization methodology (MILP) is developed to deploy vertical and horizontal collaboration between suppliers and customers through shipment consolidation.;Keywords: Global Supply Chain, sustainability, transportation collaboration, optimization.
