Abstract/Summary:
An automated system is presented to capture data from a computer aided design database to perform a link analysis. Link analysis is a method of analyzing a system based on the relationships (links) between its elements. Link analysis is used in many diverse applications, but is most effective in analyzing the arrangement of elements within physical systems such as the cockpit of an aircraft or the production area of a factory.; Since processing data for a link analysis can be overwhelming, a computer program has been developed to simplify data entry and calculation. This document demonstrates the use of Computer Aided Link Analysis to evaluate the arrangement of elements within a system for a single office work station, a multi-office area layout, a machine control panel, and a machine shop layout. These examples illustrate the flexibility of this analysis technique, and how computer processing can facilitate its broader application.
