With the rapid development and popularization of internet, many kinds of informationresources from the kind of early shape to digital, networked stage. The agencies have tobuild their own websites and they push public information resources to commonageactively. The internet is changing people's lifestyle. Using statistical data to scientificallyassess the current website construction is an urgent need for network management, and ithas become an important research area in the webometrics. This thesis use the top 50 of the graduate school as cases study, through analysis of thelink counts and the flow of these websites to reach some conclusions. The article is divided into three major parts. The first part, the introduction (Chapterl). Introduction to current study ofwebometrics in national inside and outside in detail. In this part, the author summarizes thespecific content of study and structure. The second part, the theory part (Chapters 2 and 3). In chapter 2, Webometrics as anew cross marginal discipline, the author discusses the basis of academic theory in detail;Chapter 3, the author discusses the theory of link analysis and traffic rank analysis, andfocuses on the web impact factor (WIF).The third part, case study (Chapter 4 and 5). In chapter 4, the author gathers the totalnumber of link counts, external link counts, internal link counts and web pages by using thefamous search engine-Google and collects the data of network traffic ranks throughwebsite-Alexa for the graduate school websites. Using two methods to the calculate webimpact factor (WIF) of the graduate school websites. In the later of this part, the authoranalyzes the relevant between these data through SPSS. (Statistical package for the socialscience); in this segment, the author makes a preliminary discussion to the cause andmotivation of the web page links; In chapter 5,by studying the link counts and traffic rankfor major Chinese graduate school websites in china, the thesis demonstrates that theexternal link count and traffic rank can be better evaluation measure for Chinese graduateschool than the web impact factor (WIF),and summaries the lack of this thesis.
