Abstract/Summary:
Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy and reliability of OrthoCAD's digital and plaster models from a single alginate impression. Materials and Methods: 27 alginate impressions taken as part of the routine orthodontic treatment and sent to OrthoCAD. A digital and plaster model were requested. Overbite, overjet, Bolton's analysis, intermolar width for maxillary and mandibular as well as space analysis including space available and space required for both arches, and a vertical measure of the upper right central incisor were made for both plaster and digital models. Reproducibility was assessed by the operator who randomly selecting 10 models to be remeasured. Results and Conclusions: While there were some statistically significant differences between plaster and digital models measurements, they were not clinically significant.
