Abstract/Summary:
Until recently the use of plants was almost exclusively considered to be a dominion of landscape architecture and architecture. This thesis about "Biotechnics in Engineering Design" emphasizes aspects of the use of plants in an engineering context. It summarizes the most important characteristics and data of plants used for erosion control and slope stabilization and assesses the possibility of including these plants specific mechanisms in common engineering practise.
