submaximal test for arm ergometry was developed to determine an estimate for peak oxygen uptake rate values for upper body exercise. Ten males and 10 females were tested, ages 21-35 years. Each subject completed a graded arm ergometer exercise test consisting of two minute intervals until a steady-state heart rate was achieved at a level between 60-70% of their predicted maximal heart rate.
