This thesis examines the factors that contribute to successful environmental supply chain management in one representative company in the electronics industry. Specifically, case studies of five supply chains in the firm identify characteristics of the external environment, internal organizational structure and processes, and the customer supplier relationships that tend to be associated with reduced environmental impacts of supplier-manufactured components. The study concludes with a set of recommendations for businesses, regulators, and policy makers interested in reducing environmental impacts in industries that use significant amounts of vendor-supplied components. |
