Abstract/Summary:
This thesis focuses upon the events of the three most critical crises of the entire cold war. It serves as an urgent reminder of the dangers of nuclear weapons in the hands of rival enemies. It talks about the monumental differences in ideologies between the United States and the Soviet Union. It reiterates both countries' desires to position themselves as the world's dominant leader. The result is both a space race and nuclear arms race placing the world on the brink of Armageddon.;Our most recent findings from the Russian archives and beyond are discussed, giving us reason to deeply understand and be aware of the dangers the world faces at these critical times of crisis. It emphasizes how leaders of countries and their generals in the field can so easily lose control of their nuclear arsenal, leaving the world teetering on the edge of nuclear annihilation.
