Abstract/Summary:
Harris Corporation Broadcast Systems Division specializes in broadcast systems integration. Harris' material management process utilizes a material and resource-planning program to control and track the movement of materials. As materials arrive, specific product information must be manually entered into the receiving module of the material and resource-planning program. Several elements of this information must be manually re-keyed in subsequent transactions. The re-keying of previously captured data, as well as the associated paper forms designed to track this intermediary data, is eliminated through the implementation of Automatic Data Capture technology.;The project design incorporates a two phased approach. Phase I consists of a pilot implementation of Automatic Data Capture technology. The pilot program's goal is to establish the support and confidence of the management within the Harris Florence, Kentucky operation. Design elements of Phase I include two-dimension& Portable Data File bar code label generation, wireless Radio Frequency data collectors, and the utilization of ScreenShaper application software. Phase II further implements Automatic Data Capture.
