Mobile computing has mobility, position relevance, frequent breaking of contactresistance, network condition diversity, resource limitation, network communicationasymmetry etc. The mobile computing environment is more flexible when compared with thetraditional computing environment. Because of the good expansion, data broadcast is widely usedin mobile computing and this makes the research of technology about data broadcast tosupport mobile computing become significance in theoretical and value in use.Data broadcast focuses on the problem of data broadcast scheduling. Two metrics havebeen proposed to measure the energy conservation and access efficiency respectively on thedata broadcast scheduling algorithm: tuning time and access latency. The average accesslatency and the tuning time are not synchronized. Simply shorten the access latency mayincrease tuning time, and vice versa. An ideal data broadcast algorithm should be considerednot only shortening the average access latency but tuning time. The aim of this paper is tostudy data broadcast optimization method to reduce both access latency and tuning time.The paper first studies the request scheduling strategy on multiple data items thenproposes the Advanced Multiple Disk Scheduling (AMDS) algorithm based on the TraditionalMultiple Disk Scheduling (TMDS) algorithm. AMDS algorithm uses the hot data items to fillthe idle data items in order to reduce the average access latency of the mobile terminal.In order to save the power consumption and reduce the average tuning time, the study ondata broadcast usually uses the index strategy. Based on the differences of the accessfrequency of data items, this paper has proposed the ADD_RED index broadcast algorithmthrough which the mobile terminal can fetch the needed information quickly and accurately.Finally, this paper has studied the simulation experiments on the proposed algorithmsand compared the performance comparison and analysis to those advance algorithms. Theresult of these experiments showed that our proposed algorithms can shorten both averageaccess latency and tuning time at the same time, improve the data broadcast performance onthe mobile computing and provide a feasible solution to the technology of the data broadcast.
