Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to apply computer programming to advanced packaging dynamics calculations. Specifically, there are three programs: Spectral Decomposition and Filtering by Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Shock Response Spectrum (SRS), and Power Density Spectrum (PSD) for Random Vibration. All of the programs were written by using Visual Basic for Windows Version 3.0. These programs require little user knowledge to operate since they run on a Windows; The FFT program is used for filtering a shock pulse and also to analyze the drop height, impact velocity, rebound velocity, velocity change, average G, peak G, faired G, RMS G and the coefficient of restitution. The SRS program is used for evaluating the damage potential of a shock to a critical part of a product, and the PSD program is used to construct a Power Density Spectrum plot for running random vibration controllers. The accuracy of these programs compared to commercial software was also investigated.
