The ACL-90 is the most recent version of Allen's Cognitive Level test. Until this time there has been no documentation of the test-retest reliability with a normal population. This test is a simple leather lacing task that occupational therapists use to evaluate an individual's level of cognitive functioning using an ordinal scale. The ordinal scale is based on a 25-point system that ranges from a low of 3.0 to a high of 5.8. Subjects were asked to replicate a series of leather lacing stitches during two testing periods spaced 2 week apart. The results (r =.449) indicated that the ACL-90 has moderate reliability. The ACL-90 is used in mental health occupational therapy settings across North America. It was imperative to establish this evaluative tool's test-retest reliability in order to validate scores aiding in treatment planning, treatment implementation, discharge planning, and service recommendations. |
