Abstract/Summary:
In Digital Signal Processing applications there exists the process of converting Frequency Division Multiplexed (FDM) to Time Division Multiplexed (TDM) signals. The device used to implement this function is called a Transmultiplexer. This thesis project describes the software model of such a device by use of polyphase filters. Various MATLAB scripts (m-files) have been written to create a test signal used as inputs to the simulation of a conventional Transmultiplexer, a filterbank Transmultiplexer and finally a polyphase Transmultiplexer. The conventional and filterbank Transmultiplexers are described to explain and derive the concept of the Polyphase method.
