Abstract/Summary:
This Thesis focuses on the analysis, design, development and evaluation of telematic environments for collaborative learning. In particular, we have studied the problems related to the design of computer tools for the learning of domains specific to the situations that the learners can find in their professional work.; Considering the principles of the CSCL paradigm we propose a solution centred on the social perspective of learning but without discarding its individual and cognitive components. Our position has been materialised in the design in a level-based architecture. Starting from this architecture the system DomoSim-TPC has been developed. This system consists of an environment for the organisation, realization and analysis of practical activities of collaborative learning. Theses activities lead to the resolution of design problems in a complex domain like the one of the integral automation of housing and buildings. Their characteristics have been structured and modelled considering the educational levels which this work is intended for. That is to say, those that correspond to the training cycles in which the Professional Training is structured as defined by LOGSE in Spain.; DomoSim-TPC incorporates several tools designed for: (1) Specifying (2) Motivating and facilitating the participation and the communication by means of a computer among the members of the work groups. (3) Representing, processing and managing the knowledge and the experience of the experts in the domain to study in order to direct and to analyse the work of users and groups. (4) Carrying out an analysis of the learning process, of the generated solutions and of the resulting relationships. In this analysis specific aspects and criteria of the observer are considered. These aspects are modelled and processed using techniques of approximate reasoning.; The design characteristics of the system have been debugged and validated in an exhaustive experimentation and evaluation process. During this process, the system has been used in real contexts, with real users and using different resources that the computer and communications technology exposes in the educational centres of the region of Castilla-La Mancha.
